Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement applies to merediths-mission.org.uk (the “Website”), operated by Meredith’s Mission, a registered charity (Charity Number: 1210955).
We are committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We continually work to improve the user experience for all visitors.
Our Commitment
Meredith’s Mission aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
What We’ve Done
- Provided a “Skip to content” link at the top of each page to allow keyboard users to bypass navigation.
- Used semantic HTML elements and proper heading structure throughout the site.
- Included descriptive alt text on images where applicable.
- Ensured navigation menus are labelled and structured for screen reader compatibility.
- Used sufficient colour contrast across text and background combinations.
- Made all interactive elements (buttons, links, forms) keyboard accessible.
- Social media icon links include descriptive title attributes (e.g. “Meredith’s Mission Facebook”).
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas that may not yet fully meet accessibility standards, and we are working to address them:
- Some images on the site may lack descriptive alt text.
- Certain navigation links currently use JavaScript-based href values for dropdown parents, which may present issues for some assistive technologies.
- The external online shop (hosted by SumUp) is outside of our control and may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 standards.
- Embedded SVG graphics may not include accessible titles or descriptions in all instances.
Third-Party Content
Some pages link to third-party websites and platforms including our online shop (SumUp) and our donation platform (ForGood). We cannot guarantee the accessibility of content on those external sites.
