We can make twice the difference for children facing childhood cancer.

This Christmas, Meredith’s Mission is hoping to take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge, where donations made during the campaign can be doubled through match funding.
To make that possible, we first need the support of pledgers.
A pledge is a commitment made in advance to help create the match-funding pot that will later be used to double public donations during the Christmas Challenge.
At Meredith’s Mission, we’re a small charity with a big ambition: to ensure that no child or family in Dorset has to face childhood cancer alone.
Every day, we see the lasting impact a cancer diagnosis has on a family. Whilst treatment happens in hospital, recovery happens everywhere else. Children and siblings need opportunities to play, create and simply be children again. Parents need emotional support, practical help and someone who understands the journey they’re on.

Why this campaign matters
We are a small, community-based charity, built to support local families affected by childhood cancer across Dorset. Every pound we raise stays within our community, helping children and families access support that often isn’t available elsewhere.
A successful Big Give campaign would allow us to:
- Fund more creative wellbeing therapies, including music, art and equine therapy.
- Provide more emotional support for parents and carers.
- Create more opportunities for children and siblings to reconnect with childhood beyond hospital.
- Offer practical support when families face financial hardship during treatment.
- Reach more families who need us, both during treatment and in the difficult months and years afterwards.
For us, £20,000 isn’t just a fundraising target. It’s the opportunity to say “yes” to more families when they need us most.
What is the Big Give Christmas Challenge?
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is a national fundraising campaign that helps charities raise more by matching eligible public donations.
To take part, charities must first secure pledges from businesses, organisations and individuals who are willing to support their campaign.
Those pledges create the match-funding pot. When the campaign launches, every eligible public donation is matched using that fund, effectively doubling the impact of each gift.
What is a pledge?
A pledge is a promise to support our Big Give campaign.
Unlike a normal donation, a pledge isn’t paid immediately. Instead, it becomes part of the match-funding pot that will be used to double eligible public donations during the Christmas Challenge.
Without pledgers, we simply cannot take part.
The minimum pledge is £100, and anyone can become a pledger, including:
- Local businesses
- Trusts and foundations
- Community organisations
- Individuals
- Existing supporters of Meredith’s Mission
Once the campaign has finished, pledgers fulfil their commitment in line with the eligible donations raised during campaign week.

Could you help us unlock £20,000?
If you’re a business with a charitable giving budget, a trust or foundation, a community group, or simply someone who believes every child deserves the best possible support after a cancer diagnosis, we’d love to hear from you.
By becoming one of our Big Give pledgers, you’ll be helping Meredith’s Mission unlock an opportunity that could transform what we’re able to offer local families over the coming year.
For a small charity, opportunities like this are rare.
With your support, we can turn one pledge into twice the impact, ensuring even more children and families across Dorset receive the care, compassion and support they deserve.
